GENEVA – The world is now in the post-pandemic period. Based on knowledge about past pandemics, the H1N1 (2009) virus is expected to continue to circulate as a seasonal virus for some years to come. While the level of concern is now greatly diminished, vigilance on the part of national health authorities remains vital. Colorado reports 1 death from hantavirus
DENVER (AP) – One person has died from hantavirus in Colorado this year and another has been sickened by it, prompting health officials to warn residents to take precautions before cleaning cabins and outbuildings this spring – one of the most common ways people are exposed to the disease.

Study shows possibility of women living with AIDS to breastfeed with lower risk
In low-income countries, 1.4 million women are living with the Aids virus. If no prevention measures are taken, the risk for future mothers of transmitting HIV to their child in utero, during delivery or when breastfeeding is 35%.
