Question by segfgag: How safe are you from getting H1N1 after receiving the vaccination?
I received the H1N1 vaccination a few days ago, and now I am just wondering how long it takes to get full effectiveness, and how safe I am from getting the Swine flu? Also will I pass on immunity to my infant through breast milk? Thanks

It take about 2 weeks or so to build up antibodies. And so far the research has shown that the vaccine is protecting people. Since it is a new vaccine, they don’t know yet whether your baby can buy immunity through the breast milk, but there is a excellent chance that he or she could, since research has shown that breastfed babies get sick less frequently than formula-fed babies. (see sources cited) If your baby is older than 6 months ancient then he or she could receive the vaccine as well.
