Flu vaccine
Children under five were excluded from this year’s flu vaccination programme on medical and not cost grounds, the government says. Health Secretary Andrew Lansley accepted independent advice not to repeat last year’s jabs for children, the Department of Health said.
It said its policy was based on age and risk factors and was always under review.

Vaccines against the Swine Flu control seasonal flu in order to lessen infection rates can even be developed, and yet yearly it still murders around one half a million of the world’s population. These days, they use an injection involving “killed virus”, the world’s flu vaccines. Manufacturers are inquired to produce a vaccine for H1N1, they are unlikely to be able to react quickly enough if a world pandemic is declared.

University of Michigan Health System leads study showing preliminary skin tests, divided doses unnecessary for vaccinating egg-allergic children

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Providers can skip precautionary measures when giving egg-allergic children – including those with a previously severe reaction – the H1N1 Influenza A vaccine, according to a new University of Michigan Health System-led study.
In a controlled study of 19 non-egg allergic patients and 105 egg-allergic pediatric patients, which included 25 with a history of egg-induced anaphylaxis, all received the vaccine without developing an immediate or serious reaction to the primary or booster shots. Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction which may be caused by a food allergy. Read more…
